11/12/2011 ~ Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting!
48
Paul let the kids get some martial arts kicking action so that they could blow off some steam. Claire helped to hold the pad.

11/11/2011 ~ Remembrance day
47
I really wanted to take an authentic picture of the clock at 11:11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 2011 and missed it by TWO minutes because I was preoccupied with tidy up time. So, instead you will get to see a few random shots of the day. Perhaps by some miracle I'll be awake at 11:11 pm tonight and realize it in time to take the photograph.

Our early bird. Always first up and dressed.

Lily, always the LAST to dress and eat.

11/8/2011 ~ Balloons
44
One of my little daycare kiddies arrived today with a half shrunken black balloon. It took about a millisecond for the balloon to become the toy of choice for everyone in it's vicinity. I made a quick pit stop into my party supplies tote box in the basement and came up with a bag of balloons for filling. We blew the balloons into very small sizes to keep them from popping too soon and the kids hammed it up before the school run. The toddlers spent a lot of the day vying for the balloon du jour and exploring which one was the squishiest and who could kick a balloon the farthest. Good times had by all.

Oh Griffy, you're so silly!
Back away from my red balloon. Back away NOW.
Encapsulating everything that balloons represent. Hitting, catching, floating, holding and of course, bawling that someone looked at YOUR balloon.
The black balloon that inspired all this fun

11/7/2011 ~ Downtown Date Day for the Parental Units
43
Yesterday Paul and I had a "date day". We have a family membership to the Art Gallery of Ontario and this weekend AGO members got free entry into the Royal Ontario Museum so I thought we should spend our day downtown. At some point during the morning I thought it was a bad idea and perhaps we should stick closer to home, to the kids. Then I read my horoscope which encouraged me to go with my original idea and break out of my normal routine. Game on, we headed downtown.
We saw the Chagall exhibit at the AGO, spent lots of time at the ROM . We stopped for dessert and lattes, hit up a pizza joint, lounged at a bar for a drink and had a meal as well. One very EXPENSIVE meal at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Worth every delectible penny. When we came home the kids tucked easily into bed, we shared one of the most reconnected poignant conversations during our decade of marriage. It's amazing what one full child-free day can do for a married couple. Needless to say, 24 hours later we were back on that gerbil wheel and it felt a little more like every man for himself. But luckily for us, we snapped a picture of ourselves in our honeymooner / Newlywed splendor. Fuzzy, poor lighting, bloodshot eyes but pure happiness.

Played with my new (wrinkly) backdrop today! I think I'm going to need a steamer next to get the wrinkles out. Oh, and photography lessons, lol!

11/4/2011 ~ It Wasn't Me!
40
It's a big day for Griffin. A long day of Kindergarten after which I picked him and his friend up from school for a playdate. After the playdate I dropped them off at a birthday party from 5-7 at their friends house. Excitement abounds. At one point during the hide and go seek game my eyes fell upon the kitchen table from across the room. Scribbles of what appeared to be marker across the wood. "Someone coloured on the kitchen table. Dad is going to flip out! Who coloured on the kitchen table?!" I exclaimed as I approached to take a closer look. "It wasn't me!" Griffin chimed in.

11/3/2011 ~ Zia Supplied at the Kids School Today
39
Zia supplied at the kids' school today. I'm not sure who was more excited. The kids, or Zia? The very best part was that I didn't have to go out in the rain to pick them up after school. Zia volunteered to get them after work so I had a little break. But according to Lily, the best part was playing with Zia at recess when they stomped Zia's foot plenty of times during some version of foot stomping tag. And Griffin was so happy to see her that he kissed her publicly, without being asked! I shouldn't speak for her, but I think one of Zia's fav moments was bringing them home and discovering all of the Halloween candy on the Island. Like a Bee to honey.

11/2/2011 ~ Ooey Gooey Good

On Tuesday's Lily spends her lunch hour in a science program from Mad Science. She adores it and always comes home with the interesting experiments that they created. Last week they created some kind of goo. Griffin decided that we need to start doing science at home. Science envy, I suppose. So today we made minty green goop.
Corn starch + Warm water = an interesting goop. We added mint extract because Griffin thought the corn starch smelled badly, and green food colour because he wanted to.
